making art
“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” – Bob Ross
Hello ! It’s Lea again.
I hope you had a great week. If you don’t know me, nice to meet you! This is Sunday Spreads, my personal illustration challenge.
This week’s spread is based of a childhood picture of mine that I love. Here is my favorite part of the final spread which is below:
And here is the picture of 5 year old Lea, discovering Art.
I just love how happy I look painting that stick man. I want to be that content and happy when drawing anything, from a complex illustration to a doodle on a post-it. I would love to say that my parents continued to push me to artistic pursuits, unfortunately, after a painting workshop when I was 6, I got a huge allergic reaction to turpentine (it’s a solvent to lighten oil paint). So I guess my parents thought art was not for me. ( hi mum, hi dad! ) Luckily enough, I was able to hold on to my art passion, and I’m happy to be able to work as an artist now!
Anyway, here is a quick process of the rough draft:
And the final spread with final color and details:
And that’s pretty much it :) sorry I didn’t have much time this week to write and draw! But I’m happy of how the spread turned out, sometimes simple things are the best things.
Let me know what you think, and don’t hesitate to reach out, I am always looking to connect with fellow artists & illustrators to share the joys and sorrows of creating pretty pictures from our heads.
